I’m music obsessed when it comes to writing.
I’ve read where other writers described how they wrote their books while watching whatever was distracting their kids on TV long enough to get the paragraph out of their system. And I can’t do that. I mean, I really don’t think I could. I’m picturing that kid from Super Why asking questions and me telling him to just look at the letters next to him and figure it out himself and stop distracting people.
When I write I need to leave. Travel into my head and music is my ticket out.
Writing HURRICANE DAUGHTER has been such a twangy, foot stomping good time. It’s this intimate, garage folk sort of country thrown down an indie rock barrel of whiskey. It’s a fiery, front-porch gossip sort of love story and the music has been a hell of a getaway car.
